News and Feedback from the pilot project in Moussy-le-Neuf
In Moussy-le-Neuf, the Municipality, the insertion association Equalis, the market gardener and the chef of the school canteen are all cooperating to give life and stability to the IMAGINE project !
The people in difficulty who took part in the project in 2019 and 2020 worked on an established orchard to learn pruning and grafting fruit trees with their trainer in horticulture. They also started the plantation and design of the new municipal organic orchard and gave helping hands to the market gardener at the end of the COVID crisis.
The municipality also equipped the market garderner with 1950 m2 of green-houses to support its activities and improve its cropping plans.
The COVID-19 crisis stopped the insertion activities during one month and a half. On the other hand, the market-garderner maintained its activities.
The good news of this terrible crisis is that it raised awareness among inhabitants of the small community of Moussy-le-Neuf about how valuable it was to have a market-gardener in town.
Lately, the municipality made available to the insertion association Equalis and their employees in insertion process a nice little house where they will be able to settle down comfortably with all their equipments.
The end of 2020 will be dedicated to the continuation of the fruit trees plantation, the drilling works, identification of a place to develop training in short circuit saling and to the construction of the municipal farm and processing facilities.
Retour sur le projet pilote à Moussy-le-Neuf
À Moussy-le–Neuf, la commune, l’association d’insertion Equalis, le maraicher et le chef de la cantine scolaire travaillent main dans la main depuis 2019 pour donner vie et stabilité au projet IMAGINE !
Les personnes en difficulté qui ont rejoint le projet en 2019 et en 2020 ont travaillé sur un verger déjà établi, partenaire de la ville, pour apprendre et s’entrainer aux activités de taille et de greffage avec leur encadrant technique. Ils ont aussi commencé la plantation et les réflexions sur le design du futur verger et ont donné un coup de main au maraicher à la fin de la période de la crise du COVID.
La municipalité a également concrétisé l’installation de 1 950 m2 de serres chez le maraicher pour le soutenir et lui permettre d’allonger ses plans de culture.
La crise du COVID-19 a mis un frein aux activités d’insertion pendant un mois et demi. Le maraicher lui a pu maintenir ses activités.
La bonne nouvelle, “s’il y en a !”, de toute cette crise est que les habitants de Moussy ont pu constater comme il était précieux de pouvoir bénéficier de produits frais et sains en ville, grâce au distributeur automatique de légume.
Dernièrement, la municipalité a mis à disposition de l’association d’insertion et de ses employés une jolie petite maison où ils pourront s’installer, eux et leur matériel, de façon plus confortable que durant les premiers mois du chantier.
La fin de l’année 2020 sera maintenant dédiée à la poursuite des plantations du verger, aux travaux du forage, à l’identification de locaux pour le développement des activités de vente en circuits courts pour les salariés en insertion, et à la construction de la ferme maraichère municipale et de son unité de transformation.
Nous avons du pain, “et des légumes !”, sur la planche !
